Event - School Council Meet the Lord Mayor

11 February 2016

On Thursday 11th February, the Lord Mayor of Birmingham visited Christ Church School. We were excited to welcome him to the school to talk about our exciting plans to 'Make Sparkbrook Sparkle'.

First of all the Lord Mayor joined us in our celebration Star Pupil assembly. He watched the children getting their reward certificates and then he spoke to the children.

After that he joined the School Council for a meeting where the children told them all about their plans to help 'Make Sparkbrook Sparkle.' They told him how they have provided each class with litter pickers and how the children go out each day to check there is no rubbish on the playground. They mentioned how once a month after half term we will be doing an after school litter pick with the parents. They also told the Lord Mayor how we are hoping to get other schools involved so we can spread the word and 'Make Sparkbrook Sparkle' and asked him how we can get the area on Claremont Road cleared to make it look nicer and prevent fly tipping.

The Lord Mayor gave the children lots of support with their ideas and said he will talk to members of the council to help get our project off the ground.

It was an honour to have the Lord Mayor visit our school and we can wait for him to come again!

The School Council feel very passionate about this project and they have lots and lots of ideas to 'Make Sparkbrook Sparkle' so keep an eye out for ways you can become involved.
