Event - Disability Awareness Assembly

9 October 2015

The children at Christ Church CE were extremely lucky to have a visitor in school to create awareness of different types of disability and to share what inclusion means. This is also helped us to promote our Christian values that ‘God loves everyone equally’.

During the Assembly John shared how he uses his arms instead of his legs to move around.

The day continued with the children learning through workshops and activities about a range of disabilities. The children learnt through their own experience by taking part in the activities (sitting in the wheel chair or being blind folded) and by asking questions and gaining an understanding that disabled people ‘can do’ things.

The workshop provided a great opportunity for all participants to experience first hand the real meaning of disability. It was a fantastic experience for the children and they absoloutely loved taking part- it was definitely an eye opener for them.
