Event - Young Poet Laureate Visit

8 October 2010

As part of National Poetry Day, Matt Windle, the Young Poet Laureate spent the afternoon with us.

Matt took an assembly for all of the children where he recited a number of his poems from memory and answered our questions about how he became a poet. He then went to Year 2 and worked with them on a poem about witches and wizards. Finally he went into Year 6 and helped them to write and perform poems about identity.

Thank you to Highgate Education Action Zone for funding this for our school.

Matt Windle leading our assembly.
Matt talked with Year 2 and collected their ideas for a poem.

Year 6 listened to Matt sharing his ideas about identity then wrote group poems.
Groups performed their poems with tips from Matt.
